My father in law is putting his ‘65 Mustang up for sale. He bought it maybe 6-7 years ago from the guy who had it built. I have no idea what the thing is actually worth. I’d say it’s in excellent driver condition. It’s definitely not a concours car, but it is super clean and wouldn’t look out of place parked next to a show quality car at an event.
65 GT, fully built, minus the front end. 347 stroker with aluminum Dart heads, Art Carr C4 trans, 9" rear with Tom’s axles, subframe connectors, slapper bars on the leafs... old school type of build. Power brakes, power steering, factory A/C but that is currently out of the car. He has the paperwork and receipts for EVERYTHING, and even pictures of the motor being built. Fresh paint, but original Pony interior minus the carpet and dash pad. Driven in the rain exactly one time. Getting a good bath and paint correction tomorrow. He has the GT wheels, and the original steering wheel, too. Car should easily do a low 12 second 1/4 with some tuning and stickier tires.
What say you, Oppo? Also, anyone want to buy a 65 Mustang?

I don’t think that is too far off, TBH

I’d say $23k with the right buyer. If he wants to move it quickly, $19,999. My biggest issue with it would be the white top - is that paint or vinyl? Front bumper also looks a little misaligned.

Vinyl top. Front bumper needs to be bent back a little bit, not sure why it’s like that but unbolting and applying some pressure should line it right back up. That’s been on the to-do list for a while.

Might want to check to see if Mecum had sold anything else recently in similar condition, then adjust down a little bit? I’d say it’s probably worth about 19-22k though if I had to ballpark it.

Priceless. I’m sorry he has to sell. Wish I could buy.

Make a build sheet if you can. There are variances in parts quality that can swing the price. Doesn’t have to be super detailed, but show the stuff that’s had $$$ thrown at it.
Example: Is that 9" a 4.11 traction lock with an N case and 31 spline axle shafts? Or is it a regular case with a 2.73 open and just stock replacement shafts?
How about the carb/ignition system?
I’d say low 20's, as-written.

Yea, I have to compile everything into a build sheet. It does have a 3.55 limited slip rear with Tom’s Alloy shafts. I can’t remember if they’re 28 or larger like 31 or 33 spline off the top of my head. Carb is an Edelbrock 4 barrel, ignition is a 1 year old MSD Digital 6AL and MSD high vibration coil.

Yeah, you don’t need to get down to stupid details like ARP ring gear bolts, etc, but some basics are cool.

I don’t know a whole lot about all of the parts on this, but it looks like a ballpark $20k car to me unless something in there is worth a lot more than I realize. It’s clean and a good color combo, so I’d probably list it at like $25k and accept anything over $20k.

Beautiful color combo though.
